Install Pinchy as an app

You can install Pinchy as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on most modern devices. The installed app runs in its own window without browser chrome and gets its own icon in your launcher or dock, so Pinchy is one tap or click away.

This works on every self-hosted Pinchy instance — no extra configuration needed.

Desktop (Chrome, Edge, Brave)

1. Open your Pinchy URL (for example, https://pinchy.yourcompany.com).
2. In the address bar, look for the install icon — usually a small monitor with a down arrow on the right side.
3. Click Install. Pinchy opens in its own window. You can pin it to your taskbar or dock for one-click access.

To uninstall, open Pinchy, click the three-dot menu, and choose Uninstall Pinchy.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

1. Open your Pinchy URL in Safari.
2. Tap the Share button (the square with the up arrow).
3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
4. Confirm the name (we suggest leaving it as Pinchy) and tap Add.

Pinchy now appears on your home screen with the Pinchy icon. Tapping it opens the app full-screen, with a branded splash on launch.

Android (Chrome)

1. Open your Pinchy URL in Chrome.
2. Tap the three-dot menu and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
3. Confirm. Pinchy installs as a standalone app, with its own icon in the app drawer.

What's included

• Standalone window without browser tabs or address bar
• Pinchy icon in your launcher, dock, or home screen
• Branded splash screen on launch (iOS and Android)

What's not included (yet)

Offline mode and push notifications are not part of this release. The installed app still needs an active connection to your Pinchy server, just like the browser version.
